Behind the lens

"You don't take a photograph, you make it."

— Ansel Adams

It all started in the late '80s with a vintage film camera gifted by a family friend who was a photojournalist. Emilia Altamirano, she was a very good family friend. She also happened to take our earliest family photo. It was only later on that struck me when I held the camera in my hand. What an amazing device.

Today, I still trust my old, classic lenses over digital filters to get that timeless classy look.

The Journey

Art school at the University of the Philippines, and the following jobs at Advertising Agencies, gave me my foundation, but the U.S. Navy became my ultimate testing ground.

I fancy urban street scenes for pleasure and also enjoy landscapes. Some of my photos are from Japan to Ireland, Italy, and Scotland. My favorite milestone? Shooting a coworker’s elopement against the stunning Italian countryside. Military life taught me that "slow is smooth, smooth is fast"—a mentality that keeps me entirely focused under pressure. Later, working in fast-paced marketing and advertising agencies taught me how to take a client's vision and bring it to life.

The Philosophy

I know standing in front of a camera can feel awkward, especially for intimate sessions like boudoir. Well, I didn't do boudoir, but I had my share of standing in front of a camera. That is why I ditch the stiff poses and create a relaxed, empowering space. My goal is to eliminate the tension and capture the real, authentic you.
